Founded by J. Paul Getty in 1953, the Getty started as a small museum in Malibu. Today the Getty is one of the largest and most visited museums in the United States, and an internationally-renowned cultural and philanthropic institution dedicated to the presentation, conservation, and interpretation of the world’s artistic legacy.

SCHOOL VISIT PROGRAM

The Getty is proud to invest deeply in a robust Title I subsidized school visit program, with the Education Department serving over 800,000 visitors annually through tours, programs, and interactive spaces. Approximately 130,000 students visit the Getty Museum every year as part of a school visit, with 89% of these students coming through a subsidized Title 1 school visit. A portion of our online sales will help support the Title 1 Busing program.
